Higher education is a context that especially provides opportunities for furthering the cause of integrative multidisciplinary development.

Integrative Courses and Curriculum Development
Education is an important driver of integrative multidisciplinary development. Multiplin is committed to further development and expansion of its selection of integrative educational packages (IEPs) involving the areas of focus of its interdisciplinary specialists.

There are three types of IEPs available. The most basic is an audiovisual package (AVP), where a compilation of lecture videos (with some practical exercises) is provided, which the purchasing institution can integrate into its own course or programme as it sees fit.

The second type is a standard course package (SCP), where a complete week-by-week course is purchased (with video and audio lectures, and also potentially a linked textbook) with ready-made exercise questions and a pool of questions from which to select for a final exam. The SCP is designed to be used ‘as is’, although the purchasing institution could effect some modifications when integrating the SCP into its own course or programme. There is no particular need for input from the designers of the course, but the purchasing institution may separately consult them or choose to appoint them as part-time lecturers (internal to the institution).

In the case of the third type of IEP, which is the customised course package (CCP), an extensive service is provided by the course designers, whereby they integrate the course materials into the purchasing institution’s structures (creating a customised week-by-week course) and are available throughout the course duration to be consulted by the purchasing institution’s administrators and/or lecturers. Any such consultations are secured as part of the package, and may also involve input regarding essay questions and a final exam. The service does not extend to consultation with students, however. Should the purchasing institution wish to involve the course designers in tuition or assessment of students as such, it may separately contract with one or more of them to serve as part-time lecturers (internal to the relevant institution).

More information on current and future IEPs will be available on Multiplin’s new website in February 2024.
